Creating a commissioning strategy to develop older peoples mental health services in Lancashire A communication briefing - No.1 The Lancashire Mental Health and Social Care Partnership Board has commissioned a piece of work , led on its behalf by Stephen Sloss, Director of Social Services Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council. The work is focussed on creating a commissioning strategy to develop older people’s mental health services across Lancashire. We want to develop an ambitious strategy to improve services over the next 15 years. The strategy will look at all services, including preventative work and promoting mental well being in your community. A lot of good work has already been done to develop older peoples mental health services across Lancashire and the Older People’s Mental Health Development Group, chaired by Stephen Sloss, are very keen to hear about your views. If you know of any examples of services in your community that work well or are innovative please let us know. We want to know what your views are about how local services should be improved. So please let us know your thoughts and views. Please send us the information during September 2006 to: Freepost RLZT - SGEE - CREL Tel: 01282 607047 Email: lancshirementalhealth@bprpct.nhs.uk Please note you should only use the Freepost Address if you are responding as a Service User, Carer or Voluntary Organisation. All document relating to this piece of work will be available shortly on the following internet site: www.lancashirementalhealth.org.uk Well will also be asking Local Implementation Teams (local planning and development groups) to assess their local services against national policy. We will be inviting you to comment on the strategy as we develop it, so please send us your contact details so that we can keep you up to date and advise you of any local meetings where you can get involved. Your details will be kept in confidence.
