HOW YOUR COUNCIL WORKS – A HANDY GUIDE FOR COMMUNITY GROUPS
National third sector organisations, Urban Forum and NAVCA, have collaborated with IDeA, to produce a handy guide to provide community groups and citizens with essential information on how councils work. How Your Council Works is designed to support local authorities’ efforts to engage and empower local communities and was mentioned in the recent Empowerment White Paper.
Last year’s Councillors Commission report stressed the importance
of making local people more aware of what councils and councillors do.
The guide describes clearly what councils do, how they are organised and
how communities can get more involved in local decision-making. List prices
for copies range from £4.95 to £1.50 and there are special
discounts for Urban Forum member. Have a look here.
