Signposts Multi Agency Resource Centre

Young Peoples Sexual Health

Signposts works in partnership with the Lancashire Teenage Pregnancy Partnership and Children's Centres within the Lancaster District to deliver Sexual Health Detached Work within key hotspot areas:

•  Monday - Skerton (6.00-7.30pm)

•  Wednesday - West End (3.30-5.30pm)

•  Thursday - Heysham (3.00-5.00pm)

The project delivers a mixture of detached and centre based work and provides condom distribution (via c-cards for those 13-18 - see below) and chlamydia testing. The team also has access to information regarding GUM and Family Planning clinics, providers of Emergency Hormonal Contraception (the morning after pill).

The Wednesday clinic also provides pregancy testing, contraceptive implants and advice on STI's (sexually transmitted infections).

Signposts operates the C-Card system when distributing condoms to under 18 years. Young people can access this service from Signposts during its normal opening hours of 10 – 12.30; 1-4.30, Monday to Friday.

After an initial assessment a young person is issued with a C-Card which is simply presented at subsequent visits. This system is co-ordinated by Sue Horn (Young Peoples Outreach Nurse).
