A venue for information on the West End’s issues, and a chance to speak to community groups and agencies based in the area

Aims and Objectives for Community Shop

Need

  • To work with individuals who have settled within the West End providing resources for accessing community information and groups.
  • To enable the Community groups and Agencies to be more accessible and involved with the local community.

Objectives

  • To enable community groups to be more accessible through having information available and by holding surgeries.
  • To make available information on community issues and activities.
  • To encourage and inform the local community by development of projects, West End Workshops and community enterprise.
  • To provide a place which Community Wardens can use.

Method

  • Draw out previous consultation processes to show the need for a Community Shop.
  • Set up a Community Development working group to co-ordinate various projects including the Community Shop.
  • Premises in the local shopping area.
  • Recruit and train volunteers to staff the premises.
  • Contact local groups to be involved with the project.
